Ammo prices make me cry. Convince me which .22 conversion kit to buy. |
| I just ordered a Ceiner kit. From what I can find out, it's the best. Better option would be a dedicated upper from Spikes. I couldn't afford that route, plust I wanted to use it in my SBR. Every one is on backorder now, at least that I could find. I orderd one from Delta Force. Supposed to be in the 15th. $149.95 |
Sorry Brother Yeah it was with a Ceiner installed kit. I got it from Brownells about a year ago. I want another one or two. |
How well do those subsonics perform in an AR conversion? I keep wanting to build a 10.5" dedicated .22 upper and use my supressor on it, and exclusively run subsonics thru it, but Spikes suggested I go with a 5.5" barrel and run high velocity. I keep reading mixed reviews on subsonics in the AR conversions. Kind of has me leaning toward the new GSG in SBR, but an AR platform with give me more mileage (various uppers/calibers) with a tax stamp. |
I shoot CCI 40grn subs and Aguila 40grn subs withe my AR and a can. You will need to do some polishing and better springs to make it run 100% Here is some links to the Mods for the Ciener http://home.netcom.com/~uzisubgun/id3.html home.netcom.com/~uzisubgun/id9.html Get your springs here www.jbarms.citymax.com/catalog/item/3766994/3541941.htm This AR22lr shoots 1/2 inch groups and less at 50 yrds. ![]() |
If I modify the hammer spring as shown in the article, will it still be good for using my .223 upper? I don't want to have to swap hammer springs everytime I switch over to centerfire. If it becomes a problem, I'll just get me a dedicated .22LR lower too. Thanks for the great info! |
| I heard a rumor that Tactical Solutions was going to be unveiling a .22lr AR upper of their own design at SHOT. Anyone able to deny/confirm this? These guys do a hell of a job with rimfire stuff in other platforms and I'd like to see what they can do for the AR. |
BDM. As for the barrel, my tech partner will have to answer, but I think yes. price? Do not quote me, but, $499 seems to stick in my mind.... |

I personally use a Ciener. The price is right, IMHO. I don't see spending $600+ for an upper to be able to shoot cheaper ammo, when it can be done with a cheaper Ciener. I've ran literally thousands of rounds through my Ciener in an 11.5" 1/9 upper. Accurate enough for the shooting I do, and great fun suppressed. |
