I was looking into getting a .22 kit. Any thoughts on which one works the best and is not exspensive. And also the pros and cons.

From what I've read (no experience), for good accuracy you need to use a 22 barrel. The Ciener kit may need some to a lot of tweaking to work properly (I think that was in the M16 forum here, along with tweaking info). Some (all?) kits can have problems with the 22 adaptor staying in the chamber. If you want 10+ round capacity the mags or mag adaptors are a bit pricey, not that the 10 round mags or adaptors are cheap. All in all I've yet to hear of a good, drop in, and inexpensive way to convert a AR15 to 22, and retain good accuracy and reliability. I'm still reading about conversions as I stumble across info. I would like to do it someday, a 22 AR15 is much more appealing than my 10/22.

Heres a recent thread...

One used one and that's the USGI M261 Army kit.  Theres two different ones the Army and Air Force.  I like mine.  Mag capacity is limited to 10 rds but the adapter fits inside a standard 20 or 30 rd mag.  Mine is finicky with ammo in my CAR15.  However when I try it inside a M16A2 or M4 it runs flawlessly.  Go figure.  Great subcal pratice and my son loves it.  Do a search on the conversion kits here for alot has been posted before manly down in one of the other sections (uppers I think).
