My old thread was archived.  This thread

I changed a bunch of parts on the .22lr build.  My son uses it most of the time so i wanted a short length of pull.  Went with a LWRC Ultra Compact stock for that reason.  Using some cheap MFT sights in case the scope ever breaks/falls off.

So far it's been a great shooter.

Nice build!

What are the specs on it? Bolt, Barrel, Etc.

Hows the accuracy?

I'm planning a build now and it looks like I'm going to go with a CMMG bolt, and taccom steel barrel, likely a 16" that I may get cut down to a 10.5.

Build will be a clone of my carbine for practic, fun plinker, and varmint gun.

Like any other .22lr the accuracy depends on the ammo used.  With the drop in conversion in a regular 5.56 (1/9 twist) barrel I has getting roughly palm sized groups at 30yrds.  With the dedicated set up it's 1-2" groups.  My kid loves this thing and it like it a lot too.  It's "fun" to shoot.

CMMG bolt, Spikes collar, Spikes .22lr barrel.

Keep in mind that .22lr AR barrels are roughly 1" shorter than a regular barrel once installed in a upper.  The chamber sits further in.  So my 16" set up appears to be closer to a 15" set up.  I am debating sending it out to Adco and having it chopped/pinned/welded to 16" over all length.

That is an old school Armalite Low 1-piece mount.  I knew my 12yrold would be using it more than me so I went with a low mount.  Bought it here on the EE.

Are you worried about the legal barrel length, or are you just trying to get it to match other barrels that you use?

I have no doubt that you know this, but the legal barrel length should be fine.  The are measured down the bore, not externally.

Nah, I know it's legal, just thinking about making it as short as possible.  I have a couple of SBRs and don't want to deal with doing another stamp right now.  i will probably leave it as is and just pick up a .22lr suppressor.
