To build an AR rifle in  .243 can you use an AR-15 lower & upper or does it require a special lower/upper? What type of magazines would you use and where can they be purchased?

Just the other way around.  The .243 upper mates with the AR10 lower.  The magazine used is the standard AR10 magazine.

yep,  Dablues has got it right.   the .243 is basically a necked down .308 and is much too long for a standard AR 15 action.   But dimensionally, the cartridge is the same as the 308 sso A-10 mags can be used.

   sounds like a good project –––– the .243 would be an awesome AR platform cartridge.   Much more powerful than the 243, but without the recoil of the 308

Thanks for the help. What about 6.5's? I've heard their built on both AR15 and AR10 lowers??
