After a bit of experimenting I have two loads for my .25-45 that shoot reasonably well. I used LC-09 cases bought new with un-crimped primer pockets. IOW, commercial LC cases; not military once fired. Primers are Wolf standard small rifle primers. Both loads measure 2.255" OAL. Bullet is Speer 87 grain TNT HP.
Load 1: 26.5 grains of H-4895. Five shot group at 100 yards measures .786" C-C. I haven't tried this load at any longer distances but it should be decent. This is a compressed load. Load 2: 22.5 grains of IMR-4198. All groups 5 shots. 100 yards: .723" (1 called flier) 200 yards: 1.658" 300 yards: 1.956" 350 yards: 3.022" (Shot on a steel plate) Both loads show normal pressure signs but I advise starting at least a grain lower and working up. I take no responsibility for anyone using these loads in their rifles. |
