So..I'm wondering if I need AR-10 parts for .260 rem. If so, where the he'll do I find parts to build? I see armalite is the o to folk but I don't know what lower to use or anything...I know my buddy is pretty interested too.

I am having Scott at Specialized Dynamics build me one. Yes you need the large platform (AR-10) parts. You can use whatever you want to choose but I would use a lower that you can use the magpul Pmags in as they are handy. I am using Specialzed Dynamics lower but a DPMS and several others use the Pmags as well. If you go with an Armalite lower you will have to use Armalite mags only..

Armalite "A" models take pmags.  You might want to go to the AR-10 forum for this question.

Why not just buy the complete Armalite gun?

I/m interested in a 260 Remington or a 7-08.

From what I've read about the 260 Rem/7-08 are necked down 308 Winchester casings; in which case the only thing different between it and a 308 AR is going to be the chamber/barrel.  BCG,  and all of the remaining 308 AR parts can be used.  Is this correct?  If so, where do I buy a 260 or even a 7-08 barrel?

Black Hole Weaponry has barrels, anyone else make barrels for either of  these calibers?

Anything with a 308 parent case just needs a barrel. Building is fun, but you could buy a 308 are shoot it while having a barrel cut. Then sell the barrel to subsidize the other. Just a thought. Enjoy it either way. The 260 is an awesome round.

most bbl makers that carry an AR line will have a .260 barrel.
DPMS offers a built .260 rem as well as just the bbl's
if you have the money I would highly recommend the Krieger barrel. its well worth the money.
and yes, the only differance between a .260 rem and a .308 win is the barrel on the large platform AR's
