This may not be the best forum for this but after looking at others, I couldn't find a better place for it. I am now considering building my first upper. I had intended to disassemble one I have and make some changes but then I went and bought another one that already had the features I wanted. I'm getting the disease. I am now considering building a .300 Whisper/Fireball. Del-Ton and others sell complete uppers but not exactly like I want. My unerstanding is that the gas systems for this caliber are quite different then other calibers. So, does anyone have a picture of theirs with the handguards off, so I can see what it involved? I am sure the vendors I buy from will be know what I need, but I want to ask the right questions. Thanks, Mike |

My plan is for heavier bullets. What is the point of the Whisper/Fireball if you don't suppress it, which I plan to do at some point. So I am thinking a barrel twist of 1-8" Any other suggestions? Do 'standard' AR buffer systems work ok? Any and all advice on this caliber in an AR platfrom appreciated. |
Thanks Chris. That is exactly what I needed. Sometimes there are just to many forums and sub-forums to wade through around here. |

I just received this last week. Noveske 10.5" .300 Fireball barrel 5/8"-24 threads Pistol length gas system with a 0.0875" gas port I sent off the Form 4 for a SAS 7.62mm can last week. I shot my first loads last weekend. They grouped well @ 50yds, cycled the action and held the bolt back on the last round. I still need to get a chronograph to perfect the load (Off to Midwayusa.com after this). I used this information listed here: Accurate Powder .300 Whisper Also check out Quarterbore's forums. He has a .300 Whisper section: www.quarterbore.net www.quarterbore.com ![]()

That looks so nice!! What did it cost? If you don't mind me asking! Mike |
It ran $369 Here was the video that motivated me >> www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QGwXtFdLHg He posts on Quarterbore's website, not sure if he's here or not (I hope he doesn't mind me linking it). |
