I am almost done with my .308 Build only needing a handguard and a muzzle break left to get.  I'm sort of stuck on what muzzle break I'd like.  I think I have narrowed it down to a hammer head, PWS FSC30 or a Smith Enterprises 1005SS.

Any experience with these muzzle breaks or any other I should consider as well?

I plan on going with the YHM 5C2 on my 308 AR, I have it on my AR15 and it works very well and I really like it.

I have a Primary Weapons System FSC30 on my DPMS SASS and like it. It reduces felt recoil a lot, but whoever is shooting next to you will not be your friend. The muzzle blast is directed away from the shooter to the sides.

I have a Bennie Cooley brake on my AR-10 and really like it.  I have a Primary Weapons PRC brake on my .308 Vepr and am very satisfied with it as well.

Hands down Roedale Precision.  Google them.........

This will fit the threading on the SASS Barrel, I have one going on mine.

good recoil and flip reduction - will still ring your bell, though....

The Hammerhead is a more expensive, less efficient, copy of a SJC Titan compensator.

That is the PWS brake I meant.  I looked at the wrong part # on Brownells.  This is the one I was leaning towards but will definitely check out the others mentioned.  Thanks for the input guys and keep it coming.  Probably won't buy it for a few weeks so I don't steal my wife's b-day gift ideas.......Maybe.

I have a Cooly JP brake on mine and really like it.  It's on a 24" bull barrel.  They can be a little abusive on shorter barrels.

Here is kind of a good idea for how the Roedale brake will look.  This is NOT installed for use.  I just put it on for the pics.  Still waiting on a few parts to complete the build.......

Since it directs all of the muzzle blast forward how does that reduce recoil? It sounds like it would increase recoil.

I agree with the above thought but my choice is the BA BattleComp

Not cheap but it works extremely well as a comp and doesn't punish everyone around you when firing. I have the BA BC on my LaRue PredatAR 7.62 18" barrel.  We shot about 50 rounds with the standard A2 then switched it out to the BA BC WOW!

SJC Titan on my 16" Armalite feels about like my Mforgery as far as recoil.   You DO NOT want to stand beside the gun when shooting, but while shooting I don't notice the blast.

Thanks for the suggestions, will definitely be checking some of these out.  Noise for the neighbor isn't a concern, I won't be shoot this gun in a group setting.

+1 for the "quiet brake" from a function standpoint really works + smaller form factor, but report/concuss/Db to your own face is still fierce, neighbors nowithstanding.

Another vote for the SJC Titan!!!! Long as you're not the guy sitting next to it at the range

The Linear Comps aren't designed to reduce felt recoil, but should decrease noise at the shooter's ear. It will make the recoil more linear in nature, and less muzzle rise most likely. It won't increase noise or be as effective at taming any recoil such as with a brake. Obviously, it won't be nearly as loud either.

Ended up going with the PWC FCS30.  Hope to buy the last couple parts in the next few weeks and will post some pics of the gun and parts list then.  Thanks again for all the input.
