I would like to ask for some advice..... I am almost certain I will be getting the DPMS REPR, I love the rifle length gas system and the fact that it comes standard with the PRS stock. I have 2 additions I would like to hear input on. This rifle is going to be primarily bench rest shooting and SHTF.....I can't hunt with it here in the buckeye state so unless I travel for deer season, I will only be shooting at paper. However, I still would like it functional is if I were allowed to bring it with me on my next deployment (meaning I don't want 80X magnification on it)

1. Glass - I am pretty set on the Leupold Mark IV but not sure which variable would be best. Between the 3.5-10X or the 4.5-14X. 14x is the Max I would like to dial in to but something tells me 4.5X might be a little too high for my minimum. A couple of my buddies that deployed with a Mark 4 on their M14's got the 3.5-10X but I have thought about stepping it up 1 level. I see some Nightforce have a 3.5-15X variable but for an extra grand over the Mark 4, I don't think so. What would some of you be able to suggest?

2. Trigger - I already have a Wilson TTU on my AR-15 but it is the single stage. I love what I hear about Geissel but there are so many models to choose from. I have considered purchasing a Wilson TTU 2-stage and swapping the single stage over to the REPR and putting the 2-stage into my AR as it is a pretty light pull and 2-stage might be more suited. Is there a Geissel that some would recommend as a better precision shooting trigger? The TTU is wonderful with literally no take up, you apply pressure and the only movement is the break....this seems more ideal for precision shooting, no?

I can't really comment too much yet on the actual REPR but my latest build is based off the DPMS REPR.  My brother has one and I haven't heard him complain about it.  I'll have to ask him specifically what he thinks of it, but it is pretty new, opinions may be a little premature.  As for the scope I would go with higher magnification, 4.5 isn't a bad starting point and its always nicer be able to zoom just a little more.

1-would go with the 4.5-14x plus a micro red dot mounted at a 45angle next to the scope. or if you want better magnification range you can get a Bushnell elite 6500  in something like this 2-16x, then you can use the scope to shoot both eyes open close up.  not a fast as a RD but pretty quick.

2-personal preferance. i like a 2 stage in my hunting and target rigs. i would try out the trigger that comes with the REPR and go from there.

I have a REPR tho with a custom BBL chambered in .260rem. its the best , most accurate weapon i own.

I really appreciate the advice.  I will have to look into the Bushnell.  I would like a higher variable magnification.  That is why I have been considering a Nightforce 3.5-15x but it just hurts the wallet thinking about it.  I have no real experience with Bushnell.  Good quality and built to last?

they have low end and high end ones. ones like the banner model will have wondering zero and I wouldn't use one for more then plinking (have on on my 10/22).
but the elite line is up there in quality and reliability with Nikon and Leopold. the 6500 elites are the only scope with the 6.5x magnification ratio.

Thanks again.  Honestly I'm glad you responded, I have seen some of your 'debates' in other forums with regards to DPMS quality and I have to say that I am right there with you.  It seems like many bash DPMS with what they 'heard', not experience.  Never had any issues with my 5.56 rifle.  BTW....I just got back from a gun show and was talking to a dealer who tried to pawn off a Millet 4-16X on me and said that they were bought out by Bushnell and their quality has gone up.  Heard anything about that?  Thanks again for the words of wisdom.  I'm still a little mixed between what scope I would like.  I have heard great things about the Leupold Mark 4 but don't like the limited magnification variable, however, an $800 scope doesn't instill much confidence in me.  I guess I just need to stop being a baby, keep doing the research, and make up my mind but I've already spent countless hours over this debacle.

IMO Millet is a middle to low end scope. Better than most made in china crap.

That's been my experience as well.  I am, however, limited in familiarity with Bushnell and love the Leupold's I currently have which is what makes me hesitant in investing in the $800 Elite 6500

Go the 4.5-14x option.  You won't notice a difference in the 1.0x difference in starting point.  i have an Elite 3200 on my bolt gun and I love it.  It will probably get swapped to my AR build when done.
As for the trigger, i would see what you get.  Might be good enough.  Shoot some groups and see what kind of accuracy you get.  Then, make a decision.

OH yeah I think Bushnell just bought Millet not to long ago also.
