.338 Whisper Project > AR Variants

I've had a lot of fun with my .300 BLK project and decided to upsize. Next will be a .338 Whisper. I've accumulated most of the parts and working on obtaining the barrel now. Should be fun and an opportunity to learn.

Hogan AR10 upper and lower, a decent trigger, iron sights for now with optics later.

Maybe .458 SOCOM down the road if/when parts become available again

I'm tempted to do a 458Socom mainly to shoot 600 grain subs. Might just go with Wilson when available... 14.x" barrel combo and one of their 458 suppressors.

So you are going with 338 Whisper version 2?

Based on 221 Fireball/cut down 223 case?

I've seen Ron Williams shoot .458 Socom subs with his own can. I think it was a 10.5".

You could see that massive bullet all the way to the target.

Pretty cool and darn near Hollywood quiet with his can and load combo.

I've toyed with the idea of trying a 375 Whisper. Sierra now makes a 350 grain MatchKing that carries a whopping .720 BC at velocities below 1700 fps. But that means another upper, a couple tax stamps, another suppressor...

Sorry but I dont have a video.

On the 338BR i built mine on the AR15 platform. Feeding from Pmags & all my subs were uner 35Kpsi. I have a video running it before i had a can.
