Thinking about getting one of those .450 BM uppers that are on special. Anyone have any opinion as to which is a better length for the .450 –– the 16" or the 20"?
My thought is that it's intended for mostly short range shooting, so I wouldn't think much would be sacrificed, as far as accuracy, to go with the shorter barrel length. I appreciate any feedback |

you will lose about 100 fps going with a 16" instead of the 20" To me it's worth it, I prefer the more compact rifle. Thanks for the stats. That's exactly what I was looking for. And I was thinking the same thing, in measuring the tradeoff in performance for the compactness |

I went with the 16" barrel.............I figured my shooting would be under 150 yds, probably under 50 yds in some time of cover.......plus my other AR's are 20".
What little velocity and accuracy I would loose with the 16" barrel would be offset by being easier to handle. |

If I had a short one, I'd always be wishing it was 4" longer. Compensating for something are you???? I have the 20" model and I love it. The caliber is something special. Does some fierce damage to whatever is in it's way! |

I'm stoked –– I just got the go-ahead from the CINC to use $500 from tax return to buy my .450 Bushmaster upper. My wife rocks. The Tax return hit today, so I ordered the 16" upper today. Also went down to the local Cabelas and got a box of ammo. Now the waiting begins... |
| Just to update you. When I called on monday to update my order, the guy I talked to said that the Sale went much better than expected, and as such they "kinda ran outta bolts" haha So he said they were waiting on a shipment of bolts to come in before they resumed shipping out the uppers. Will probly be a few weeks he said. |

haha, emailed them on March 9th with a question about "customizing" my order. Just in regards to changing the forearm on it.
JUST FINALLY recieved that customer service email(since they have a couple departments) answer TODAY, the 26th, hahaha. Guess they are busy. Ordered the 16" barrel. Guess I was wrong when I said, it's probably being made right now since they are still waiting on bolts |

I was convinced that I would get the 458 SOCOM because of bullet choice, but I am kidding myself thinking I have time to reload and $5 a pop (even if you don't shoot much) just seems wrong.
Since Freedom Corp? (or whatever the name of the co. is that owns Remington/Bushmaster) has also purchased Barnes, I am hopefull that Barnes will make some more bullets for the 450 BM and hopefully there will be some more manufactured ammo for the BM at reasonable prices for those of us who don't reload (at least for now). |

I thought about it, but didn't want to hold up the ship date....gonna be long enough by the sounds of it. |

I talked to them today and they told me it would be a MINIMUM of 6 weeks for shipment. I canceled Hmm, if we can get a few more people to cancel maybe we'd be looking at 4-5 weeks. That being said, I can wait. It was kind of an impulse buy anyways. As long as I have it in time to sight in and use for deer season. |

I talked to them today and they told me it would be a MINIMUM of 6 weeks for shipment. I canceled That's weird, because I called and talked to them the same day and he told me about 2.5 weeks. He said at the time I talked to him they are backordered 250 orders, but they just got in 170 bolts, and those would go out, reducing the backorder to 80, plus new ones coming in. Then it would be about another week or two for the next big shipment of bolts. I guess we'll see who got the correct info 2.5 weeks, or 6 weeks. For saving $300 on an upper I was planning on buying anyway, I think I can wait, either way. |
