So I am putting together a semi dedicated .22 upper.  The heart of it is a colt 20in M16A1 barrel.  I graciously received a round hand guard cap from a member here( Thanks StevesZZ5) since I was wanting to keep the look close to a M16A4 clone.  I also ordered a set of rifle length M4 style Handguards from a Cavarms sale at Quantico Tactical.  I preferred the round handguards versus the normal tapered rifle length ones.

Here's my issue.  The round HG's notches for the end cap are oval shaped  not round.  Not too familiar with rifle length HG's here so what are my options.  I am assuming trying to find an oval HG cap in the .625 diameter for the skinny barrel might be next to impossible.  I guess i can always go with the tapered but I really like the round look and feel.

I already tried some WECSOG on the HG's to see if I could modify them to fit, but I ended up making them slide from left to right once I cleared out some plastic for the top and bottom of the cap to go over them.

Any Ideas?
Thanks,
JestersHK

You need a triangular M16 handguard cap.  All the 20" barrel M16 variants use that and not a round one, so all the rifle length handguards are madeto fit inside triangle handguard caps.

Thanks for the reply,
I figured it was something easy.  The HG's just threw me off with their oval appearance for the notches that fit under the cap.  I assumed the newer style HG's used a round HG ca thinking the Triangular ones were only for the older triangular HG's.  Guess I over thunk this one
