It is probably a Model 1 barrel.

It is an E.R. Shaw barrel from M1S. It could be 1/8 or 1/9. Definitely not a Bushy barrel.

After looking at Bushmasters website, I see their free float handguards are vented and mine is not. My suspicions of the validity of this upper is starting to irritate me. If I got screwed, this would be the 1st time I've had a seller screw me. I'd hate to post up who the seller was, if he screwed me. No, it wasn't purchased on ARFCOM

Thanks to all for the quick responses, thus far.

I'll post up some pics of the upper tomorrow.

I think bushmaster stripped lowers have some indication in the serial number, I forget exactly what.

Would help if I actually read the first post.

That is NOT A BUSHMASTER factory upper. The barrel is clearly marked. M1S ss stands for Model 1 Sales Stainless Steel.

You got taken advantage of. You were charged a premium for a Bushmaster upper and got a low dollar replacement instead.

YEP.  I would be pissed.  If you paid by CC put the charge in dispute and make the seller pay to have it returned.

It is definitely Model 1 Sales, I had one I bought from them with the exact same stamping. I also have a genuine Bushy barrel marked "B MP"

I'm in the same boat. I bought what I was told was a CMMG upper and I'm almost sure it's not but can't get anyone to tell me what it is in my thread. I also got a chrome BCG that I was told was a YOUNG NM and it arrived with NO/ZERO stakes and no markings what so ever. It looks like with the demand as it is people are even more bold at trying to screw us.

To the OP, everyone responding is spot on. It is a Model 1 Sales barrel.

To plowboy, I believe the Young NM BCG do not come staked at all.

Bad news: as others have said it is a Model 1 Sales barrel/upper and you may have paid too much for it.

Good news: Model 1 Sales makes good stuff. Their barrels are very good (E.R. Shaw), especially the stainless ones IMO. I have a buddy with a M1S upper and it is a fantastic shooter, as good or better than some of my high-dollar rifles.

Shoot it. It may be a reliable tack driver and that will mitigate this situation for you.

if it really is a factory bushmaster, you got intriniscly screwed due to their intrisic inferiority derived from the bushmaster name.

bushmaster sucks!

mitigate - to resolve, solve, settle,  as in to put him at ease over the barrel not being what he paid for is this English enough for YA

I'd be unhappy.  As others have said, you paid for a Bushy and got a M1S.

The few model 1's I have seen would not run.

i have a the bushmaster varminter 24" SS bb upper and its is not marked like yours at all, maybe he just used a BM upper reciever with the m1s barrel. Regardless I would keep it as the price was good and I have shot mine next to a guy who had the M!s varminter kit and we got the same accuracy . Really they are 99% the same except for the FF HG as mine is vented. You are good to go unless there is something actually wrong with the upper.

I paid $450 for the upper minus bolt/carrier and charging handle. I'm going to keep it and shoot it, I've had others echo on the accuracy on E.R. Shaw stainless barrels, I hope this isn't a mistake keeping it.

Yea, it was in the description. That is a good vendor to have offered a full refund to you. I imagine it should be a good shooter, put it through the paces and let us know how she does.

Deceptive - he states the upper is by bushmaster, then mentions an ER Shaw barrel - hoping the uninformed buyer won't make the connection that Bushmaster doesn't use ER Shaw barrels. He also doesn't mention that the barrel isn't branded by ER Shaw, but, rather, M1S.

I'm jealous now - my barrels don't have 'super tuned gas ports'.

Who was the seller? That ad is just deceptive enough to make me want to not do business with them.

In the days of $1000+ DPMS rifles.... I would keep the upper too. I was lucky to get one of PKFirearms New Years day uppers..... a Bushy A3 M4 w/ cuts and t-marks for $397 delivered. And yes the barrel is marked B P ......

Anyhow, the ad was a little deceptive, truthful but deceptive.... shoot it and give us a range report.... I hope it works out for you and performs the way you expected.
