If you accept that the LaRue mounts aren't going to break, why are you still so worried about things falling off? Anything that breaks a LaRue mount is probably going to break the 550 cord you have the stuff tethered with. What are you looking to use this rifle for anyways?

Maybe I'm looking for a solution without a problem.  Just exploring options I guess.  I'm not worried about the Larue mounts break, just a gear snag opening the QD release.  It's my issued M4, I will use it for patrols/classes.

When I was young I use to Over think!
KISS  RULE  I swear by this

The Larue mounts are the best out there Period
I use a aimpoint cantilever mount for my Aimpoint / LMT M4

It also repeats  a dead on zero after taken it off and on

My older QRP mount was off just a tad

If you must maybe zip strips / velcro
but Im here to tell ya Larue is GTG

BTW

what rail do you have!

Now I cold see a problem if its not a Quality rail
But since the Larue mount is adjustable maybe not???

There are a few members here who give outstanding info here
and I trust there advice 99% of the time

Forest is one of my favorites
Chuck Santose as well!!
They both help me with info since day 1 here

QUIB is a good one  I like him before he became the Pro  Weapoms cleaner
Devl seems to be right on the money
Rudy for geting me into LMT

I have quite a few things mounted on my M4 that are sitting on Larue mounts tied down with 550 cord per the Army norm.  I was wondering are there any better options for redundancy to ensure if my Larue mount breaks the rails I won't lose the mount and the item attached to it.

posters handle, elevenB location N.Y. (FT. Drum?) Possible Grunt?

Loc-tite, lock washers, lock nuts and lock wire have been keeping stuff from vibrating loose and falling off helicopters. The same applies to the machine guns that are often attached to the helicopters.

The Army ties EVERYTHING down!
It isn't necessary, heck they make the GIs tie their dicks to their belts now so they don't forget and leave it somewhere!
