I hope this is the correct thread, this is my first post on this site.
Anyway, I have seen this sort of tiny-suppressor looking muzzle break of some sort, and have been wondering what it is. I've also seen this in the movie "The Expendables" on the Noveske Rifleworks Diplomat: http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Noveske_Rifleworks_Diplomat Here are some pics of what I'm talking about: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/1208/dsc01901olw.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yIZKfYueyY0/Tgo6npMwnUI/AAAAAAAACPA/YBJnvhp2cK4/s320/Untitled.jpg I think that those two are different things... but anyway, I hope someone knows what these are. |
| That is a KX3 flash suppressor in both photos. It is not a suppressor although it actually does move the sound pressure wave from a short AR barrel further forward out in front of the end of the barrel though. The theory behind the KX3 is that it increases the backpressure on a short barreled rifle a small amount so it makes the short barrels just a bit more reliable. It is also said to make the rifle less punishing on people who are standing near you. This is a topic of somewhat frequent arguments on here as to if it actually works. My opinion is it does reduce muzzle blast but doesn't increase reliability. I had one on a 10.5" SBR and to be honest mine ran fine with it or without it. I eventually took it off because it was really heavy. |
