I want to add some quad rails to my AR, 16 inch barrel, that has a standard hand guard.
I have been looking online at the different options and my question in this. What size do I want to go for. If I get the full length, I assume I would half to remove the iron front site to get it on correct? Therefore, would I be better off leaving that alone and going with a mid-length rail?

My eyes aren’t helping me in comparisons, so would someone explain my options a bit better?

Thanks

You will want to get the carbine length (7") rails if you intend to use the Front Sight Base.  If not, you can get a 9" rail, designed for a midlength rifle that will cover up the area where the FSB mounts to the barrel.  This will require you removing the FSB and replacing it with a gas block.  I would recommend you have a competent gunsmith do this type of install for you if you don't know what you are doing and don't have the right tools.

Do you want free float or two piece? If you're wanting free floats then yes, you'll have to remove the standard FSB. If two piece, then carbine length, provided this is the type you have.
