| i currently have an eotech on my rifle but am strongly moving towards putting a micro on it.. thoughts and opinions please |
|
I just received my Aimpoint micro R-1 and I am sold on it. I also have a ML3 and I think the micro is going to do everything it does, but in a smaller and lighter package.
Only downside to the micro is the small window will suck for co-witness with a peep sight. I regret not buying a second R-1 for my AR. |
| I own both. To echo what some other posters have said, I like the weight and battery life of the Aimpoint, but prefer the reticle and sight picture of the Eotech. Both great sights. Try both, use what you like...........or be like a ton of us............and use BOTH :D |

Aimpoint is Tier 1. Eotech is Tier 1. ACOG is secret squirrel.
But seriously... what would it take for Eotech to get the battery-life of an Aimpoint? I'd be all over that. What's the hold up? Would be nice if Eotech could work out some deal and pay for the rights to the Aimpoint circuitry and hook it up!!! Or vice versa and have Aimpoint offer different Eotech-like reticle instead of just a dot. I'm reminded of this... if they mated if only someone would develop an Eopoint. Oh well. |

Aimpoint = LED, Eotech = laser w/much greater power requirements. Eotech w/Aimpoint-like battery life ain't gonna happen (sadly...) Tomac |

When my dept approved rifles they pushed aimpoints and eotechs as sights. Now they are the only two approved sights. I leaned towards the eotech until I looked through one. The sight just seemed busy but I didnt buy either. I bought a Nikon initially which is a simple red dot. I liked it, simple.
So, after a few years, a few issues arose with eotechs. Shorter battery life, control placement and issues with them shutting off. So after a few years I have leaned more and more to the aimpoints. Due to the short battery life on my Nikon and a deal I could not refuse from Midway, I finally jumped on the Micro last week. And I am not disappoint. |
