Anyone know where the best deal is for 50 caliber ammo cans?
Thanks, Alan |

I'm not sure if it is the lowest price, but I believe it is respectable

Quoted: the cans are very nice, some small dings, scratches and minor cosmetic imperfections, but these came in just the other day from and South Carolina military base and look very nice, 12 cans ship for $28, smaller quantities shipping is less, what ever the cart quotes in checkout is the shipping cost you pay, and typically a little under actual cost. Possibly some small rust spots but nothing major, We do not open them to look at the seals but its very uncommon to see these damaged until they have seen use in the 2nd hand market, these are fresh off the base http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g322/sgammo/IMG_1380.jpg http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g322/sgammo/IMG_1382.jpg Thanks for the update and for the photos. I checked the shipping and it is in line with regular UPS ground. Prices for the cans in that condition are very competitive. |

I went to a local army surplus store and felt obligated to buy something. I walked out with two ammo cans. $19 each. I felt cheated and at the same time like I was helping prop up a local American business. Sort of a good and bad feeling all in one. I'll try gun shows next. |

When my normal places (ammotogo.com and sgammo.com) were out of cans last month, I bought a set of 9 from here: http://www.armygear.net/ag/store/ac50x9e.html
It's $10/ea plus shipping, which was $20-something total. Cans arrived with as-new seals, no body or corner rust, no spray-paint gobs or anything, and just a bit of corrosion on some of the hinge pins. I hit 'em with steel wool and a bit of gun oil, which i'm sure will keep them in fine shape forever in Colorado. Filled 5 of the 9 cans in the last few weeks, so will be shopping for more if I don't have another boating accident and lose everything again. Amazing how that happens. |

Ammo can search in North Texas got me this: Guns shows: hit or miss if they had them and the quality was terrible. Beat to hell, rusted and bad seals. Cans were always over $10. Then add admission fees, parking fees, gas, time, etc. Surplus stores: are a big joke here in DFW since they're are none. Ohamas in Ft Worth has junk. Cans are beat to shit, rusted, bad seals $6. Hardly worth it. EE : Someone found a guy in Gainesville Texas that had a ton of good cans for $5 each. No idea if there are any left but you could hand pick the ones you wanted. Internet Sales: I had bought two orders from ArmyGear, net for 9 cans at $58 plus shipping. Their prices have gone up SIGNIFICANTLY since then. Their 9 can deal was good since they priced them to ship as a square of cans in a HD box and if you phone ordered they would put in your smaller items without and extra charge. This was a few years ago. If there were a ARFcom sponsor dealer that would do this type of consistent sales of cans at a set amount and price I am sure it would be a big hit. |

I don't mean to get off topic but how many 20 round boxes of 5.56 will fit in a regular 50 cal can? Thanks. So far my best packing is 820 rounds (20/box w/ spacers) of Federal XM193F in a 50-cal can, or 1110 rounds of IMI M193 (30/box, no spacers) Boxes of PMC XTac/Bronze are 20/box but no spacers, so should be around 900 per can. |

A little over $10/each is very fair price shipped. Grove |

I don't mean to get off topic but how many 20 round boxes of 5.56 will fit in a regular 50 cal can? Thanks. It depends on the size of the boxes. For Winchester Q3131 I could get 41 boxes in there. For Winchester Q3131A I could get 50 boxes in there. The difference is domesting Q3131 has the carboard spacers in the box (so each cartridge has it's own custioned compartment; the Izzy produced Q3131A just puts all 20 cartridges in the box (brass touching brass) so the box is a little bit smaller. |

Well, I only order ammo in cans, so I have plenty of empty ones every month. I usually give them away. My suggestion, Order ammo in cans, easier to handle as well. My 2 cents B Maybe your experience is different than mine, but when I price ammo to buy, you tend to end up paying for the can. |

I got that a little while ago when their m193 was sold out and I tried to follow a link to it. |

Military Shooters has 4 packs of 50 Cal cans for $18 Says they are "Good Condition", but they look rough The link above is a great deal, but you have to spend at least $100 Where are you getting that? It says "sold by pallet only" Hmm your right, I guess I clicked on the File Boxes link on the left, then there it says "minimum $100 order on ALL Ammo Boxes." And the Ammo cans are under Ammo Boxes, but your right it does say sold by pallet only for the ammo cans. |

Check this place out. I have had good luck with them. Their ammo cans are very inexpensive.. Sometimes it might take a while to get your order, but it's always great stuff, all good. Good seals, and no dents.....pretty much brand new except it was probably used once.

Look locally.
A few years ago I found a guy on Craigslist who had a garage stuffed full of .50 cal ammo cans. He was selling them for $6 each. They were in excellent condition. I got 10 back then and thought I bought too many, but now I wish I got 15. Now I have a couple of more. I use ALL of them. I want more.... |

For me that is a gun show item. A local item. I would not dream of shipping ammo cans in. I agree with you . I have been to 3 gun shows in the Past 3 weeks and only 1 vendor at 1 show had fat 50's. By the time my wife unit showed up with my money they were sold out. I need 4 Saw cans Badly for my current project. so I broke down and ordered 4 saw cans from here $26 for shipping on 4 plus there price was more than I liked but not Horrible as I need them |

southernbellebrass.com has the best and cheapest that I have found. They are currently out, but the 50 Cal Grade 1 was $6.95 each when they were in stock, and $5.95 for Grade 2. Actually all their ammo boxes are very reasonable when in stock.

It looks like they are sold out now but Cheaper than dirt had 12 cans for $199. Even though they were more expensive than some posted up, they are the only brand new, un-used mil spec cans I've ever seen for sale. I bought 12. When I opened each can, you could hear the air release because they were obviously packed at different elevation.
