What are any disadvantages with trying to use this barrel. All I have is a stripped lower so I could work with thing within reason... if its gtg... what do I need to complete an upper, I would probably go with FF or those drop in hand guard rails |

The finish is standard parkerized, it depends on which FSB you choose whether there is gunsmithing required or not.
There are no holes for taper pins in the barrel, so if you choose a standard FSB you will have to get the holes drilled. If you go with a set screw or a clamp on FSB, you won't have to have any smithing done. The barrels are great, I have used them on my last four rifles. If I am thinking of the same folding sight you are, it is a ARMS product. Stay away from ARMS, they have an inferior product and even worse service. |

DD, Spike's, BCM all make great BCGs.
You can go with a low profile gas block if you want to use a long rail. Troy, YHM, DD make good ones. If you want to use a 7" rail or standard handguards, you could use a YHM flip up clamp on FSB or a railed gas block. You will need a carbine length gas tube regardless of your choice of FSB or gas block. |
