well i went to the gun show, of course i have to look at everything, then i saw a new upper assemby, 20" flattop with freefloat picitnny handgaurds. it had the front sight and thats it. no rear sight, nothing. so anyways i bought it and went to look for an optic, i only had about 25 bucks and i got a deal on a BSA 30mm red dot for a .22. thats all i can afford for right now ha but anyways i installed BSA's factory mounts and now when i look through the sight, the front sight is in the way. i'm not exactly sure why but i guess its cause its a 22 sight. anyways, is there any suggestions or maybe like risers or a base or something? i want to keep it under 100 dollars but still reliable. im sorry if this makes me sound like a fool but please if your going to talk negative, please, keep it to yourself. Thanks a lot guys!

I'm guessing the dot is below the top of the front sight?  You will probably just have to get a some kind of riser.  Or you could just get a BUIS and shoot Iron sights.

not a bad idea, how much would a riser cost? i've looked everywhere and they look quite expensive. or am not looking hard enough?

Using a riser wont change where the dot is located.  The dot will be on top of your front sight post when you have the same heap position as your iron sights with both sighted in for the same distance and moving the optic higher wont change that dot position... it will just have a dot lower in the tube if you maintain your head position.  Realise this going in.  The reason people mount red dots slightly higher is to remove the irons sights from sight slightly by promoting a a higher head position off the stock which put the red dot more or less centered in a higher mount  You can achieve the same thing by slightly lifting your head with a perfectly cowitnessed set up.  If your dot is not sitting on top of your front sight post when using the head position you use for iron sight you probably do not have have it sighted in yet.

so its basically how i'm looking at it? because i mean ive looked from every angle and even as far up as you can see through that little optic and it is still below the post on the front sight.

you should have bought a better scope a .22 scope isn't made for the abuse of anything larger.

I wouldn't waste more money trying to get a cheap scope to work.  Save your cash and
buy a back up iron site and shoot it that way till you can afford a scope in the 100-200 dollar range.

you get what you pay for most all of us have made this mistake.  Mine was on a 25 dollar walmart scope
that luckily I kept the receipt.
