I have a 16 inch 9mm barrel. I got it used and just took off the freefloat and put on a shorter one. I now have a visible area on the barrel where the ironsight used to be. It looks like the sight just sat up next to a flared out part of the barrel.  I dont have the iron sight nor do I want it. So to cover that area up I was thinking of putting a railed gas block on it. I dont know what size to get. I measured out the circumfrence of that barrel section and it is 2.5 inches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need the diameter, not circumference.

Most barrels these days measure .750" at the gas block, however if your barrel is a Colt than it will measure .625".

Its a RRA barrel. My friend just brought over his gauge and its a .750 on that spot. Thanks for your help.

You could also just get a longer rail and cover up the thing that way.

That 2.5" circumference comes out to be about 0.80", which isn't terribly common...  It may require a custom block.
