i recently bought a used barrel for a build,the barrel measures 15 inches end to end uninstalled with nothing threaded on it.once put into the receiver with a standard flash hider on it ..it measures 15.5 inches from the end of the flat top to the end of the flash hider..im guessing ill need a .5 inch longer flash hider to be legal....sound correct?thanks

barrel length is measured from the (closed) bolt face to the end of the barrel. Close the bolt and insert a dowel or similar down the end of the barrel until it rests against the bolt face. Mark the rod at the end of the barrel, pull it out and measure it. That is your barrel length.

I'm gonna guess it's a 14.5" or 14.7" barrel. In that case you need a long enough muzzle device and need to pin/weld it to the barrel to be legal.

Or you can build a pistol...

Or you can file sbr papers and wait for them to come back...

Or you could put it up on the ee and get the barel you want or need...
