I've read about the 14.5",14.7", 16", 18" 20" & 24". but why not a 22" barrel? most of my hunting rifles have a 22" barrel. is there something wrong with a 22" barrel on an ar-15?

not as accurate, won't shoot as far, much slower bullet, the twist isn't right, what?

I have a 24" ss, bull barrel & want to have it cut by ADCO down to a 22" & fluted. or should I just have it cut down to a 20".

wife wants a night vision scope put on it with a vortex flash hider. can you believe that?

thanks

The Remington R15 VTR comes in a 1-9 at 22 inches.

Make the barrel the way you want it to be. Why do you want to cut it down anyway?

Bushmaster predator is 22" as well. They're out there.

too front heavy. with fluting & barrel cut down, would be easier for wife to handle

You will only remove a little over 3 ounces per inch cutting it down. Not sure what the fluting takes off. Heck, my wife would have trouble with a 16" bull!

I'm in agreement with you.  Though it may be 6oz for the cutoff it will have a noticeable effect back at the grip due to the moment it creates at such a great distance.

I say flute it and get it cut to 18" or 20".  You'll lose nothing and the gun will handle far better, IMO.

ETA:  Just take it on down to 18" and get it fluted as well - that will be a sweet setup.  IMO 20" is the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM an AR barrel should be for good handling and overall shootability, but 18" is better still.  22" is still too long.
