I have heard about people getting barrel liners to fire 22lr in 5.56 barrels.  Do they work well?  Are they expensive?  Who does this?  Thanks!

22LR barrel liners been a common part in Brownells catalog for yrs.  Drill bit is  $$, but there should be not too much problem finding somebody to do the job, might have to look around a bit.

The liners is meant to repair old barrels that are obsolete, but they do have have the correct land-groove dimension for 22LR, though you still need to cut chamber when done, the AR barrel just be a resting place for the liner..

Cost of job might come close to what you would expect to pay for a custom made 22LR AR barrel that be plug-n-play with your 22 conversion kit.

I got a relined AR carbine length barrel from American Manufacturing years ago and tried to pass the name around because I thought it was a darn good setup for $85 and the barrel really shot well but I just went to their web site and it looks like American Manufacturing is closing down!

Not too many shops want to fool with relining a barrel and the ones that do want lots of $$$ for it.

OA has a converion kit that has the barrel liners for 22LR and 17RF.  Sort of like a ciner kit w/an extra long barrel

AR15 (Hey! how did you get that screen name!) just to be sure we are on the same page. You do realise that the Ceiner conversion uses the standard 5.56 barrel for 22lr and it works fine for most uses? For special purpose match use some spend the money to get a dedicated upper with its special purpose barrel . This would be the use where you might consider relineing a shot out old AR barell as opposed to buying a new special new 22lr barrel.
Hope this clears up any confusion (which may only be on my part)
