| I think I may have originally posted this in the wrong column, so here it is again. Does anyone make a heavy profile 18 or 20 inch chrome lined barrel with a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 twist? all the heavy profiles with this rate of twist are stainless. wont a chrome lined barrel outlast a stainless barrel? |
| My understanding is, correct me if I'm wrong, is that the chrome lining is for ease of cleaning and durability due to lack of cleaning in a battelfield situation. For accuracy it's better to use a non chrome lined barrel based on a well none barrel manufacturer website, because the process of chrome lining is not perfect when it comes to uniform thickness along the legnth of the barrel. A properly cleaned stainless barrel should last just as long as a chrome lined barrel |
