i've been searching through tacked threads and some of my tags...

i'm trying to find the difference in weight between:

Colt 16" Lightweight Barrel (AR6520)
Colt 16" Government Barrel (LE6920)

So far i've come up with 23oz for the LWT and 27.7oz for the M4 type. Does this sound right?

Yep sounds about right.  Should be about 4.3 oz of difference.

thanks forest. how noticeable of a difference is that?

do you know the weight of the 14.5" M4A1 SOCOM barrel?

I notice them easily.  All the weight difference between the 16" M4 and the LW is at the muzzle end.  The LW feels like a toy by comparison.

Around 29oz (sans FSB & Muzzle device) IIRC, little more than an ounce heavier than the 16" M4.

awesome thanks.

my fiancee wants another carbine, i built her one with the M4 socom barrel/CASV-EL this summer when i rebarreled my MT6400C, but now she wants something lighter.

so i was thinking a 16" LWT with a DD 7.0 would be a lot lighter and easier to handle (better balance).
