I am planning on buying a different barrel for my HBAR, Mainly to get a chrome bore. On ebay i see barrels and they say there chrome lined. I ask the seller to tell me whats on the barrel for markings and all come back as C MP 1/7? I went to biggerhammer.net for disciption and it says that it will spell it out on the barrel if it is chrome lined. Did i read this right. Thanks for any help

My Bushmaster barrel has only this stamped on it:

B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR

Nothing is on there to indicate whether it is chrome lined or not, even though it is.

My cousin has a Colt, and it is marked:

C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR (the order may be different, but that's all there is on it)

Again, nothing on that barrel indicates whether it is chrome lined or not.  I do know that the chamber of that particular barrel is chrome lined.

If you have enough trust in the seller, you can ask him to check the bore and chamber to see if either or both are chrome lined.  If so, a semi shiny grayish color will indicate chrome lining.  It won't be shiny like a car bumper, and it may be totally dull looking if the barrel is dirty.  HTH

Most of Colt's later production on sporters, unless using a military barrel configuration, has a chrome lined chamber and a non-chromed bore.

You can visually inspect your bore at the muzzle and see if it's chrome lined.

Barrel markings are not consistent, and no one, including Colt uses the "Chrome Bore" additional marking like they did on earlier production.

A Bushmaster barrel is always chrome lined in the bore and chamber, except DCM and Varminter barrels.

Colt A2 profile and military M4 barrels (1/7 twist) are chrome lined in the bore and chamber.  The 1/9 M4 barrels might or might not have a chromed bore.  Most other barrels are chrome chamber, unlined bore - although you can find chrome bores and chambers on just about anything, depending on how Colt was feeling that day/week/month.
