New guy here, and just starting my first build. I just received my tactical machining 80% lower and will be finishing it shortly. I have an armalite lower kit with 2 stage trigger that will be going in it.
I've been researching the rest of the build, and am wondering the difference between a heavy contour, a light contour, and a bull barrel.

Thanks,
Troy

It is the profile and outside diameter (OD) of the barrels.

Bull bbl's are generally heavier/thicker and more often than not have little to no taper
from chamber to bore through the length of the bbl.

Light contour barrels have more subtle contours and gradual changes from profile area to profile area,
the opposite for the heavy contour barrels.

Be aware though that one OEM barrel can be significantly different from another.

Unless you care that it is chrome lined Id look at the Barrel from Sportsman Guide for 99 bucks its a M-4 contour barrel and has the best of both worlds but not chrome lined.... In my case out here in the Great South West we don't have much humidity so I really don't care for a chrome lined.... I have over 1000 rounds Thu mine and with no problems also I built 3 of the same top and none have had issues..And I have done a couple of 80% builds so go read the posts and heed the warnings so you don,t make same mistakes All of us have made......Any questions don,t hesitate to ask or E-Mail me Ill be happy to help...

Thanks for the replies guys!

This is the setup I'm thinking for the upper. My first built will be "on the cheep".

What kind of problems should I be aware of?
