Just wondering if there are spring upgrades - I just shot an AR with the non folding (full size) stock and the recoil was so smooth. Is there a spring upgrade on the shorter (M4) style rifle to achieve a similar feel?

I think there is more to it than just the buffer. Was the one you shot a rifle length? If so, the reduced recoil would also be due to heavier rifle and longer gas system.
