i am looking at purchasing a harris bipod.

i was wondering if this mount will work?

http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=1877&cat=1772

my rifle i will be putting it on has a dpms non-railed freefloat tube, and a 4rail front gas block. so i will putting that mount on the gas block.

the rifles on order from del-ton, so i wont have it for awhile.

I don't think that mount will work. It doesn't apear to be anywhere near long enough.

I just searched for a solution for you and this is the first thing I found. It doesn't look much longer than the one you found:

This might be too pricy, but it's a good example. From larue.com

Harris has their own adaptors shown here.

yeah, that one really doesnt seem a whole lot taller. it seems kind of long afor the gas block also, thats kind of the reason i was stuck on the one dpms offerered...the price was another issue.

maybe i'll just have to wait till my rifle arrived and see what the diameter of the dpms tube is compared to the gas block.

how would i go about mounting the bipod onto my freefloat tube instead?  would i just need to drill and tap a hole for the sling stud... or does that tube already have a hole for a stud?

thanks guys!

I have a Bushmaster Varminter with a free float tube and my Harris fits like a glove. I was under the impression that you had a quad rail.

The tube already had a swivel stud on the underside of the tube when I bought it.

You could make a call and find out if yours has a swivel stud installed already

well i will have a 4-rail gas block with a dpms non railed tube.

calling del-ton right now is next to impossible. if it doesnt have a sling stud ill just put one in. im going to school for machining so thats no big deal.

i just originally want a QD, so thats why i went with the 4-rail gas block but realized those are a little more then i really want to spend on a bipod when im going to school.

i'll just mount it to the sling stud.

I would go that route too. Spend the $$$ on a QD when you can ... if you feel the need in the future.

Evidently LaRue is top quality equipment, but if i'm going to spend that much ... I'd spend it on a scope mount or something equally tactical efficient ... just my opinion.

yeah, im going to switch the gas block to a low profile so down the future i can get a nice 4-rail hand guard to go over it.

speaking of mounts i ordered a tasco target/varmint scope with burris xtr rings.... cant wait till that gets here

thanks again for the help.
