been seing a lot of companies come out with blast shields. all my 556 guns have flash hiders so im not to woried about them but my ar 10 and 308 bolt gun both have an asr muzzle brakes for the saker i put in the paperwork for. if the brake is trying to shoot gas out the side and you put a blast shield on it and force it out the front so bystanders dont get affected dosnt that nullify the affect of the brake making it useless?
maby im missing some thing but it seams like you bought a brake for recoil/muzzle rise control and then spent even more money to undo what the brake does. |

The Lantac and the Ferfrans are the best two out it seems. Most other ones just turns your muzzle brake/Blast shields combo into a linear comp.
I have the Lantac Dragon with the BMD. It still mitigates the muzzle rise and recoil, since it has ports and the 10 and 12 O' clock position. The Lantac system has .223 and 30 cal options.... The Ferfrans has small holes all around the blast diverter. From the vidoes I've seen, it does a good job as well. |
| On my pistol, I made a brake (until this year YHM didn't offer a chamber style brake mount) suppressor mount to help prolong suppressor life, it's not super pleasant without a can, but the brake works well, so I made a blast shield for it. Shield works great, but indeed kills any braking action. I made mine from aluminum, left it pretty thick at like 1/4" wall, gotta be lighter than the commercial steel options, it didn't cost me a pretty penny either. I like the option to tone it down when I want without having to use a can, if I used public ranges, I wouldn't subject others to a 10.5" braked 5.56, I know it sucks to be next to. |
