Hey not sure where to post this but I have a new dpms 308 and bushmaster in 5.56. Would you suggest buying a new bolt assembly for both as a backup? I have a few dollars to spare and I dont know how long these tend to last exactly. From the way the rifle operates it seems like the bolt assembly would be the first thing to break down..but Im not sure..I would imagine that the springs would go on the extractor first before anything... Just wondering if you think it would be worth the money to have them stashed away (based on how long they last). I know they are new rifles so I shouldnt be worried but I just like to be prepared.

At this point IMO I would buy ammo instead of spare parts...It really depends on much you will be shooting. Personally I don't worry about broken parts. I f it happens there are plenty of places to buy small parts. At least as I write this!!!!

Ya I think thats my problem..I know ammo will always be around even if it is taxed or whatever nonsense their talking about..but  god knows what happens if they place some sort of complete restriction on the ar-15 platforms. I dont think it would ever happen..but who knows what would become of the small replacement parts then...Id just rather be safe ha.

Pat Rogers has said he has never seen a bolt carrier break in any of his courses. Now gas keys can come lose if not staked properly but actual breakage is extremely rare.

I bought a spare bolt for each of my rifles and was done with it.
