Can I use a .22 bore brush on my AR?  It's a normal AR in .223.

Yes. .223 barrels have a 22cal bore.

yes, the BORE is the same size. However, if you wish to clean the CHAMBER, you'll need a chamber brush. This brush is the same size as the CASING of the .223, plus a 3/4" long section that is wide enough to clean the locking lug area:
