I got a post ban telescoping buttstock from my buddy, you know, the fake collapsable buttstock.  I put it on my AR but I didn't realize that he didn't have the right buffer for it.  Is there a buffer designed for the collapsable stock, one that would be smaller?  Where could I get just the buffer?  I don't need the spring or the buttstock, just the buffer.

You need a carbine buffer I take it you can get them from Bushmaster,Leagal transfers in new hampshireor eagle firearms.net they deal in RRA parts also.If all else fails I have a carbine buffer maybe we could work out a trade.Im always on the look out for AR mags and such let me know my email is [email protected]

Ah, I didn't see the page where I could order individual parts for the telestock.  All is good now, thanks.

Are you sure you already do not have the right buffer. A lot of post ban telestocks use a full length buffer tube and buffer.  I know RRA and Bushmaster does. DPMS and ASA might not.  Also if it was a home conversion it probably uses a carbine buffer but you better make sure it is really pinned well and permanent if you are using it on a post ban receiver.   It sounds odd that your buddy would have the right spring but the wrong buffer.   On my preban telestock the inside length is about 7 inches. On my postban fixed lelestock the depth is about 9.5 inches. A full length buffer is about 6 inches so it would be pretty obvious if you had the wrong buffer.

The buffer I have will only go down like two inches before stopping.  The bolt will not go back.  I am pretty sure I have the wrong buffer.  I am amazed I didn't notice this when I put it together, once I looked at it, it was pretty obvious it wouldn't fit.

I agree, it does sound odd that my buddy would have the wrong buffer, I am going to ask him about it when he returns from an Army school in Missouri.

some fixed telestocks are made to take the regular carbinebuffer, put a ruler down the tube and take a measurment.
