Got a quick question on buffer weights, Carbine, H2, H3. is carbine the heaviest all the way up to H3 the lightest, or do I have it backwards??
Just curious, I'm building a lower for my 5.45 rifle, and wondering what buffer I should use for the hot Russian surplus ammo. |

Carbine is the lightest, followed by H1 (heavier than carbine), H2 (heavier than H1), and H3 (heavier than H2).
According to the October 2009 issue of American Rifleman, the H1 buffer uses two steel weights and one tungsten weight. The H2 buffer has one steel weight and two tungsten weights. That leads me to believe the carbine is 3 steel 0 tungsten, and the H3 is 0 steel and 3 tungsten. On the other hand, I have no idea how to figure out which number of weights is best for what kind of rifle... |
