| Seeing cheap "7075" mil spec tubes on eBay. These legit and quality? |
|
Just depends on who made it.
Just cause it's made in china doesn't mean it's bad IF you trust the maker. I've gotten some good deals on UTG & NCStar brand risers & rails. But if you spend a little more for a mil-spec sized tube, you'll have much better stock choices. I built a lower for a friend and talked him in to spending a few more bucks on a mil spec tube, we saved that difference when we found a mil spec stock on sale. I also have several commercial spec tubes, they run fine but one of them has some chewed up threads. That's my fault for being ham handed with swapping stocks but all the threads on my mils look brand new. |

Milspec 7075 REs on the EE for under $20.
No brainer, imo. A shit RE can shut your rig down in a hurry. Over a ~$20 part. Anderson makes great REs as well for about $39 for the whole kit. RE alone is about $18-$20. DsArms has them also. Cheapest is not always gtg. |

I'm wondering if they are Anderson tubes. |

I've built a couple of lowers using cheepo buffer/spring/tube kits from ebay - worked just fine. Do your own due diligence, however. I assume only a few companies in the US even make mil spec tubes. I may take a risk on this buffer tube. |
| A while back I purchased a couple of tube kits with stock, springs, buffer, end plate virtually the whole kit and I have used them for a while now, no problems at all with them, are they rough duty, lets go into a firefight? probably not, but I have a few other guns set up for that type of stuff, one of the kits went on my wife's gun, which she normally only shoots a few times a year leading up to hunting season. The company that sells them, says they are 7075, but really have no way to verify that and for what I paid for each kit, I am not worried about it. |

well after further research, I pulled the brakes on the purchase. The vendor only has a couple of feedback. Maybe a new startup. Maybe selling knockoffs. Who knows. It does appear it is a mil spec, at least according to the picture though. You can see how the threads are wider than the tube itself.
I see some ads that claim to be mil spec but according to their pictures, width of thread looks the same as tube. Just going to buy an Anderson from PA. That extra $10 will be peace of mind. |
| I bought a "cheap" Chinese made buffer tube from USA Liberty Arms for $17 and installed it. I didn't notice any issues until the next day when I popped the take down pin and opened the upper receiver to change out the bolt. That's when, much to my suprise, the buffer came flying out of the tube. Upon further examination, I noticed the inside diameter of the tube was bigger than the tube on my other AR and in fact was so big, it was allowing the buffer to "hop" up over the detent. I returned it and put a BCM in it and haven't had an issue since. |
