You don't need any of that stuff. I had a small punch laying around already and I used a small tack hammer and a pair of needle nose pliers. I used a scrap piece of 2X4 as my "workbench". I am a complete newb with an AR15 and had my lower together in 30 minutes thanks to these fine folks right here.

There are usually fairly cheap sets of punches for sale at gun shows, but you can get them from Bushmaster, Brownells or any number of other vendors. I think you'll be able to find the pivot pin detent tool as easily, but that installation is doable by hand. You're really going from the ground up if you'll need a bolt assembly tool. Look at the same places.

But as sel366 said, you really don't need much to put one together.

The one thing that you need to think about is what to use to hold the upper receiver while you tighten the barrel nut. Action blocks and a vise are the way to go, but I improvised with a flat top upper by using a wide jaw wood working vise.

Yeah, if you go that route and "completely" build from the ground up you will need a vise and a barrel wrench. I went the "rifle kit" route from Del-Ton. Then I built my own lower with the parts kit that came from Del-Ton with the upper. Very fun and educational experience. This is a GREAT site for info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Front pivot pin spring install.....save your money and buy this...click here.  Another guy on this site told me about this inexpensive little piece that saves me time and $.  I got one at Lowes for $1.25.  It's a clevis pin.  The one I got was 1/4" x 1.5".  It has multiple holes already drilled into the pin and it can basically be used just like a standard front pivot pin intall tool...but for only $1.25!!!  Check it out in the screws/fastner area of Lowes or Home Depot.

+1 this is easy and cheap and works like a champ.
I added a 2 gallon ziploc bag to my build kit to perform the front pivot pin install inside incase the detent starts flying.
Alos, get a small piece of 2x4 (off cut from a construction site for free) to put under the receiver trigger guard ear when driving that pin.
