what are the necessary tools needed in order to build an AR, such as vice grip, punches etc. any information will help thanks

The tools needed to build the lower half of an AR are just ordinary tools such as pin punch set, hammer, small and large pliers, and a special stock wrench if you're building a carbine with collapsible buttstock.

There are more tools needed to build the upper half such as action block, armorers multi barrel wrench and a medium or large shop table vise.

If you have a flat top upper receiver you could substitute two wooden blocks for the action block tool but you have to be careful not to crush your upper when you tighten the vise.
