[ARCHIVED THREAD] - bushmaster question

Would you trust a bushy in a shtf situation do you think it would survive a course???
Or should I sell it for a better rifle??? Recomendations?

If everything is kept up, lubed, gas keys staked properly, you should have no problems.

I took a 20" factory BM to a rifle course this spring.
Not a single malfunction that I didn't set up myself.
It's proven itself to me, so it sits at the front of my safe now.
Just my opinion and my single experience.

My bushy has been nothing but amazing. Everyone I talk to at the gun shop says they love theirs too.

I'd say you have the same chance of a bushmaster failing as most other rifles failing. Run a few hundred rounds through it before to make sure it doesn't have any major issues. Then take it to the course, keep it lubed, and it should keep running all day.

Thanks guys. I ran about 200 rds through mine pretty hard last month and had no probs
And with your inputs I feel even better. How can I tell if its staked properly . It looks good to me ???

I worked on Black Rifles for 20 years as an Armorer in the Corps and none of them were "Magic" but to be fair Colt has been doing it for a long damn time so it's no wonder they have it down. On the other hand, I have owned a couple Bushmasters along the way and with proper PM and a little caressing I found them to be more than adequate for a duty weapon.
