what do you guys think about c-more red dot sights? seems they are pretty popular for competition handguns, how about for an AR? they have AR compatible red dots, I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with them. thoughts?

please not the "its not an aimpoint or eotech? screw it." just wanna hear about personal experience.

I prefer an EOTech or Aimpoint for a flat-top AR, but I have a C-More on one of my A2s and I really like it for use on a CH with the forward mount –– more so than an Aimpoint mounted in the same way, personally (and I have one of those set-ups as well).

(Not the one it's on now, but a pic of my old 9mm AR it used to be on FWIW.)

asthetically, i like it; using and actually doing something w/ it...i prefer to invest in an aimpoint

YMMV

Yep. I've handled the set-up with the integral A2 rear sight and it looks great... just didn't feel nearly as sturdy as I would want. Never shot with it though, so take that with a grain of salt...

ETA: I am kind of a "component" shopper anyway.... rather than get a system that has everything, get individual items that are top-notch in their purpose.

I guess I am really loving the reflex sight part of it and just wondering if it could hold up to the abuse handed out on a tactical rifle. It's probably extremely fast, but can it withstand getting itself smashed like an aimpoint or an eotech would?

Probably not.

As much as I like mine, I've never had it on any of my "serious" ARs and don't plan to...

I like the Colt-Scout type CMORE sights. If I ever did decide to put a dot on my AR, it would probably be my best choice, considering I have no desire to give up my carry handle sight.

I got one free with my FN FS2000.  It's a good match for that rifle. Not very many optics look good on that rifle. I like it.  It holds it's zero and is quick to get on target.  I can't say how it would handle major abuse. I could be wrong but it strikes me as being a bit delicate.  I probably wouldn't have chosen it if I had to pay for it. There are better choices. EoTech, Aimpoint, etc..

I use them a lot.  I really like them.  They are a bitch to get sighted in because they have set screws to hold the windage and elevation screws in place and when you get the sight on target, you tighten the set screws and it has a tendency to move the point of impact slightly.  However, once you get them sighted in, they stay there.  I had one of my M16's with a c-more fall off of a countertop and onto a concrete floor.  The weapon landed on its side after bouncing one time.  I thought that would have knocked the sights off of their mark, but when I went to fire it, the c-more was still on the money.  They make one with an aluminum body now that is supposed to be even sturdier.  My nephew is in Special Ops in the 82nd Airborne, and he said that some of his buddies switched from the Eotech to the c-more and liked it better.  I have had several Eotechs but did not like the reticle they use.  I have not tried any of the Eotechs that just have the red dot.  One good point about the c-more sight is that you can change the size of the dot by switching out the red dot module.

Well, that's great to hear. Gives me more confidence in it. Sounds much tougher than I thought it was.
