I bought some Remington UMC 55gr FMJ from Wal-Mart yesterday and upon inspection notice a small ridge near the case neck.  Every case in the six boxes I bought were like this.  I haven't seen this on any other of my Remington UMC cases.  I sent these pictures to Remington to see if they thought they were ok to shoot or if I should return them.  What are your thoughts?  Has anyone else noticed this on the Remington UMC ammo?

That's a crimp...  Looks like Remington might be starting to put that on, hmmm.  None of mine have it.

Nice pictures, though.

Yup that's a crimp.

Keep us posted on the reply from Remington.

May be doing that now after the Rem office folks read the posts here and elsewhere about the none  or weak "crimp" on those budget loads they peddle that get pushed back into the case for lots of pressure and feed troubles. That looks pretty secure and like a reverse of the Lee collet type crimp.

Thanks everyone!  I haven't noticed that on any of my other ammo so I was a little worried that spot may become a weak point for a failure once fired.
