ETA: do you mean the entire upper group or just the upper receiver? I also forgot that some older Colts have larger pivot pins so it may not be as simple as I stated above. |

I just acquired a Colt MT6700 and it too has the screw in the front. I believe in order to use a different upper you need to send it to Adco who can bring it up to date with a push pin, but the cost is $80 plus shipping. I haven't taken mine apart so I don't know if you can use the front screw with another receiver but IIRC you can't. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong. I don't plan on changing the rifle at all so it wasn't a issue for me. Enjoy your rifle.

The 6700 may have the standard size front pivot pin hole, so I think you can use the screws. If it has the larger hole all you need is a simple adapter pin.
