Model one sales upper on a bushmaster lower and m1s bolt and carrier

when I pull the charging handle there is about 2mm of play before the charging handle starts pulling the bolt carrier. Witch really wouldn’t matter, but there is no pressure on the charging handle to depress the charging handle catch on the upper. So what ends up happening is that you (kinda) just rip the charging handle catch off the upper witch gouges the upper. Now I know this isn’t normal, because I looked at my colt M16A2 (airwing still has A2 not A4 bull@^#%) at work and as soon as you pull the charging handle there is pressure. it allows the charging handle catch to unlock before the handle is racked.

So I thought I had a nonspec charging handle and bought a new one from a different company. Still didn’t fix the problem. ANY Ideas would be awesome

You can compare or measure the lip just in front of the gas  key on the carrier . This is where the handle engages the carrier. See if it is cut farther back than  your other AR carrier .  Or see if the handle notch on the upper is out of spec/located farther forward.
