im in the middle of my first build and im totalling up the upper assembly costs. im going for a quality build where cost isnt my first priority, though it is definatly a consideration. anyhow im just wondering what the absolute cheapest build would cost.

This is what I came up with in a hurry:
Essential Arms lower $85
RRA LPK $55 (I'm sure some of you know of cheaper LPKs)
Model1Sales Standard Rifle Complete Upper 20" $460

Total $600

Did I leave out any parts? Those prices don't include shipping, taxes, or transfer fees, but oh well.

So can any of you come up with a cheaper rifle? I know the EE will have cheaper prices but unless its the type of thing thats always on there at about the same price I'm not really considering that. Anyway whatever cheap rifle you can come up with will be an interesting view.
PRICE is the top priority. Comments on quality are great but the lowest prices are the object here.

You need a butt stock, buffer, tube, and spring.  What kind of upper?  You'll need a rear sight if it's a flat top.

ETA - You did good on the the LPK.

The model1sales kit here: http://model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=KSE200&storeid=1&image=s20prek.gif

The $460 price includes an A2 buttstock and has an A2 upper receiver. Its also assembled

To clarify, I am not going to buy/build this configuration. I just got curious as to just how cheap a build can be.

Have you looked at Black Thorn. They have the cheapest kits I have found. Also Superior Lowers for $80 At Aim. So all together it would be a little over $500 adding up the shipping and the transfer fee, and if you want a flat top add $30 to that for a carry handle... Good luck and hope this helped out.

You might want to search for some reviews before considering Blackthorne; I've had zero experience with them but their reputation is probably the worst in the industry.

With the Model 1 kit you are considering the LPK is included, so you don't need the RRA kit.
