whats the cheapest place, thats still decent, for a complete upper? [with bolt, carrier, etc]? i like the old fashioned built in carry handle, instead of the flat top. prefer m4 style, or "car" style. [is there a difference? are the terms "car" and "m4" interchangable?] i really like the look of this one: http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1014.htm is it possible to find one like it any cheaper? forgive my ignorance, i'm used to AK's. :( |

Those are pretty good prices, complete with the BCG. You could look at www.model1sales,com but I don't know if they are as cheap. They are assemblers of "kit" guns. I think CAR means Colt Automatic Rifle and was the original "shorty" AR. It had 16" light or heavy profile barrel and shorty handguards and 2-position telestock. The M4 was 16" or 14.5" barrel with cut-outs for attaching an M203 grenade launcher, 4-position telestock. cheers, LT |
They don't sell complete uppers. They are minus bolt and carrier. When you add that in their prices aren't that competitive. |
| Usually you can either by cheap, or you can buy quality, but you usually cannot get both. However, the nice thing about Del-ton is that you can get an affordable quality product. I am extremely happy with the kit that I purchased from Del-ton and I ended up with a good rifle that was well within my budget, that I really enjoy shooting. I also had a blast putting the lower together. Additionally their customer service is great! Its what keeps me coming back to them again and again. |
i know enough from lurking around the forums to stay away from hesse/vulcan/blackthorne. :) |

Armalite has a sale going on right now: www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=BRK15A4CB+LTA2&Category=9f794ab0-7a08-44e0-85d2-34f1832de5ea Thats less the BCG but they sell theirs for $135 $247+135= $382.00 Ongoing thread: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=350485&page=2 |
With a new upper and bolt there really is no need to check headspace. Not that it matters, the Armalite uppers are all gone. |
Can't say for sure but that upper is no longer on the Armalite web site. |
The link is still up: www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=BRK15A4CB+LTA2&Category=9f794ab0-7a08-44e0-85d2-34f1832de5ea |
It's not there when you go from the homepage. I see it's call to order now too on the old link. Call and order one, see what they say. |
I called this morning. All out and NO backorders... |
|
Link is still working, but they've raised the price bigtime to 354 bucks! Damn! ETA: here are some great Thanksgiving deals they have going on, though. Check these out. Armalite Thanksgiving Specials

they didnt raise the price.....they added the bolt, bolt carrier, and charging handle!!!! :) i ordered: http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=EK0446B&Category=9f794ab0-7a08-44e0-85d2-34f1832de5ea http://www.armalite.com/images/large%20images%5CEK0446BLARGE.jpg 360 shipped...with chrome lined barrel. i just hope it is in 5.56 and not .223 |
They're marked 223, but 5.56 has supposedly been standard on their chrome lined rifles for years. |

This is definitely the best upper deal going in the last 8 months. If you're in the market you should seriously consider it. That said, some reasons why you might not want to hit it: 1. BArrel twist rate is 1:9 instead of 1:7. So you can't use Mk262 ammo in this out to 300 yards. No biggie. 2. It's looks to be an HBAR, with or without the M203 cut. So it's about a pound heavier than an M4-style 16"er. Other than that, these are a really great deal, even cheaper than the Stags and Del-Tons. |

LINKY Cheapest upper I could find in the past. But the Armalite deal is the best ever. |
Ordered two, they are gone off their web special page now though. |
The description of that $350 link says it does NOT include BCG or handle, link you posted lists price of $500. What exactly did you get for 360 shipped? |
