First off, Welcome to the site!!!!!

216.23.214.70/lt/handguards.html

First off, pull the unit and double check your install.  Make sure that you have not bent/cracked the upper receiver barrel socket by over tightening. Make sure that the barrel extension lip is flush with the socket lip, and mic down the sides/top or the receiver to confirm that the socket is still in line with the centerline of the receiver.

Regarding your question of threads and sockets being milled out of spec, it does happen once in a while (was a bad run with one of the suppliers not to long ago), but mostly, the problems lies in the install of the parts done incorrectly (read something getting bent).

thank you for your response.
i have checked all of the obvious posable problems with the install and straightness of parts but with the shape of the mur upper it is complicated to check for square any tips would be very much apreciated.

A mill table and dial indicator with a magnetic base is the simplest.

Helps to have a few fixtures pre made to check the upper,
The first is a straight rod lathed down just enough to fit inside the barrel socket and the other is a lathe threaded round that will thread on the barrel socket.

thank you for your response. i took the easy way out and ordered a new upper to mock up and see if that fixes the problem. i have found that the flange of the barrel is not perfect this may be the problem. i dont know
