| I have an older Colt "hbar" in my gun cabinet. I used it for "highpower" shooting some years back. I want to bring it out again. It has the 1in7 barrel and is the "green" model as oposed to the 'blue" model. it has the heavy bolt(I think it was the m16 bolt). I used it with a leather sling in the positions. I would like to replace the forearm with floating type, but want to have the rifle stay legal for high power. There are a few kits out there but I would like some input before I change the rifle. So far I've learned that there are two piece and three piece kits from Midway and Brownels. I used to put a lot of pressure on the sling firing from the positions so the guard needs to be stout. |

There's a few companies who make FF handguard sets that keep the original look of factory handguards. I dont know a lot about hipower rules, but I think you have to maintain the original look of the rifle to be legal. Generally... A green label will have a obsolete slabside lower, small FCG pins, and a large pivot pin with no sear block. A white label generally has a modern reinforced lower with small FCG pins and large pivot pin with no sear block. A blue label will have a sear block with large FCG pins, a modern reinforced lower, and either a large pivot pin or small pivot pin. Blue labels that have a single pin sear block and are factory drilled for a front pushpin are the closest to a mil spec lower and are the most desirable to anybody with a brain. Most amatuers think a green labels is more desirable. They are wrong. If you hear someone talk about green/blue label a bunch of times when discussing or selling a Colt AR-15, that is an indicator they really have no idea what they are talking about. |

Yes, but I don't consider them anymore desirable. They are not as good as a blue label due to the large pivot pin. |
A modern blue label (made today) will have web style sear block, large FCG pins, and be drilled for standard front pushpin. |
