Why? To the original poster - for about $150, you could buy a lower and a lower parts kit, and have yourself a very nice example of an early AR. The stock is the original style, with the rubber butt, and no trapdoor. |

You did OK, Me personaly I would keep the scope, handguards and the Bolt Carrier and chuck the rest. You have no idea how many rounds have been thru the barrels, and without a throat errosion gauge dont know how many you might possibly have left. Same with the bolt, it might fall apart at the first round. Nothing there that I would trust my life with. |
+1. Assuming the uppers are OK, one complete upper would cost more than twice what you paid. What calibers are the bbls? |

Looks like you got a pretty good deal..... SP-1 type upper (new (Colt) costs $359 from CTD), A2 type lower ($ depends on make), Bolt carrier looks brand new ($92.50 BM), Bolt appears in fair condition ($56 BM), cam pin looks new also ($4,50 BM), firing pins ($7.50 BM) & firing pin retainers ($1 BM) are always handy to have around, A1 type handguards (about $10 (Colt) from CTD & buttstocks (Colt) $39.97 )are nifty for retros, and the A2 handguards ($21.95 new BM) are in fair condition too, and the Mount the Aimpoint is on can be anywhere from ($148 - A.R.M.S.) to ($17.97 - CTD) Check your head space with go / no go gauges, and the bore and throat conditions with a scope if you have one. If you have the money, have the barrels and their extensions Magnetic Particle, or U.V die checked for cracks. You never know what the previous owner may have had happen. BM = Bushmaster Again, you got a pretty good deal. CTD = Cheaper Than Dirt |
I will get more pics next week. Is the FA carrier worth more than a semi? |

Ignore the peanut gallery. The M16 bolt carrier is no different than any other, either in the eyes of the law or the value on the market. You have two upper receivers, one appears to be Colt 604 (M16) and the other is M16A2. Each is attached to a proper barrel: lightweight "pencil" for the 604 and government profile for the A2. I assume you have only hand screwed the barrel into the A2 upper for idsplay purposes? Or is it actually installed? You have an appropriate set of handguards for each: triangle for the 604 and cylindrical for the A2. Both buttstocks are pre-1970, and would be era-appropriate to the 604. The pistol grip also predates the A2. For the bolt and carrier, look for markings such as 'MP' or 'C' or 'F'. They are almost certainly functional, but a better brand might bring piece of mind. Given the obvious wear and tear on these, they would make excellent shooter / truck gun / utility builds. Possibly not fit for patrol or beauty contests, but a whole lot of fun for less than $300. |
Are you familiar with Washington States laws on the posession of any full auto parts? |
AGNTSA www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=6&t=147440 |
That's all good and fine if you live in a state where the M16 BC is legal. The original poster lives in WA, where M16, and other machinegun parts, cannot be legally owned according to state law. |
Why then can I buy complete examples of the Colt 6920 in Washington state gun shops? Don't they only come with full auto carriers? |
