| im probley just worried, but i have a RRA lower and i bought a Vltor standard modstock with the Vltor buffer tube, i dont have the castle nut nor the receiver end plate yet, but when i placed the buffer tube in the receiver it wigles around a little bit, so i was wondering when i put the receiver end plate and castle nut on if it will correct that problem, or is their a specific part i need, because i was reading that RRA uses Commercial buffer tubes and stocks and Vltor uses mil-spec, probley a stuped question but this is my first build just wanting to make sure everthing will match up. Thanks |

That's what the castle nut is for. Tightening the tube into the receiver. Nothing to worry about. +1 The end plate has a tab at the bottom that helps to index the buffer tube, and the plate also helps to spread out the force of a tightned castle nut. The castle nut holds it all nice and tight. While RRA normaly ships thier rifles with commercial tubes, it is a non-issue in your case. The differences between "commercial" and "mil-spec" tubes only has to do with the areas that the stock body fits around. All lower receivers are threaded the same for the tubes to fit, and since you purchased the correct tube for your stock direct from Vltor, you should be GTG. Tex78 |

Mil-Spec tubes are a smaller diameter then Commercial tubes.....thats your problem. Not even close The threads are exactly the same on mil-spec and comm. tubes. The castle nut will alleviate the slop in the threads, as in any other nut-bolt relationship. |

Mil-Spec tubes are a smaller diameter then Commercial tubes.....thats your problem. The part in red is a correct statement, the blue is wrong. Mil spec tubes are smaller in diameter, but only the part the stock covers, the threads should fit the same in the receiver. The tube fitting lose is not uncommon, once you tighten the castle nut, it'll be rock solid. |
