How are these compared to the TBBC rounds? I know the HORN 60gr barrier is not up to the TBBC standards, wondering how the additional 2gr effect performance? -Justin Horn vs. TBBC |

www.tacticalforums.com/cgi-bin/tacticalubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=78;t=001179 I am damn near positive it meets FBI req's. Just no hard numbers. Does anyone know if the 62gr barrier rounds have an exposed lead nose like the TBBC? |
order direct from Hornady. it was $110.00 for a 200 round case deliverd before the price increase. dont know what it is now. |
I think that their (Hornady's) new load is pretty good. I looked at the Federal Tactical 62 grain but it is just far too expesnive for my blood even though I am sure that it is very good. The cheapest that I could find it was $162.00 for 200 rounds. I got 400 rounds of the Hornady 62 grain Barrier for $210.40 SHIPPED direct from Hornady with the LE discount. I compared the tests of the 62 grain TAP Barrier round with that of the Federal Tactical load and they were fairly close but it was obvious that the Federal load exceeded the Hornady in weight retention and in penetration. I have used the TAP 60 grain and it was very accurate in my rifle so I don't have a problem with the Hornady loads. I got one of their 3 ring binders with all of their ballistic testing if anyone is interested in any of the information. |
Yes, it is an exposed lead nose like the Federal load. |
I haven't shot any of it yet. It is what I am going to us in my new LMT MRP for a duty gun. When I get it, I will test the ammo.
I got that quote from Kielser's Police Supply in Jeffersonville, IN. That was their LE price. |
